For this year’s Grand National Preview we welcomed a panel of three guests all new to the WBRC. Jamie Snowden, currently assistant trainer to Nicky Henderson and who later this summer will commence training in his own right near Shaftesbury, Witney trainer Mark Rimell, grandson of four times Grand National winning trainer Fred Rimell and whose grandmother owns Simon a runner in this year’s National, and Ron Atkins the former jockey and trainer who took part in two Nationals and was safety officer for the Jockeys’ Association for a number of years.
The panel looked back over past Nationals and mentioned some particularly memorable moments before going through prospects for the featured races over the National fences concluding with the race itself. Ron Atkins successfully tipped Comply or Die for the big race whilst Jamie Snowden who was unseated from Scots Grey in the Foxhunters’ mentioned the winner Christy Beamish as having an excellent chance.
